Man Beaten With Cane After Bump In UES Subway Station, Police Say
A 51-year-old man suffered pain and swelling to his face after accidentally bumping his attacker on the subway.
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a man who beat somebody with a cane in retaliation for being bumped in an Upper East Side subway station, police said.
A 51-year-old man was riding a nortbound 6 train through the Upper East Side on Tuesday, Oct. 30 when he accidentally bumped into another passenger at the Lexington Avenue and East 96th Street subway station, police said. The inadvertent contact prompted the unknown man to strike the 51-year-old in the face with a cane, police said.
The victim suffered pain and swelling to his face, but refused medical attention at the scene, police said.

The suspect fled the subway station after the attack, police said. He's described as a man in his late teens or early 20s with a thin build. Police released photos of the man taken by subway station security cameras (seen above).
