Man Critically Injured After Fall From UES Building, Police Say

The man was rushed to the hospital after falling from a building on East 87th Street near Third Avenue.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A man was critically injured Friday morning after falling from a building on the Upper East Side, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

The 55-year-old man fell 12 stories from the 23-story building on the corner of East 87th Street and Third Avenue, an NYPD spokeswoman said. EMS rushed the man to Metropolitan Hospital in critical condition around 9:30 a.m., police said.

The incident was initially reported by police as a "jumper," but it appears the man fell while working on a window, the Daily News reported. A wrench was found on the ground near where the man fell, according to the report.

An NYPD spokeswoman could not provide updates on the man's status after he was taken to the hospital.
