Man Hurls Hate, Can Of Beans, At Upper East Side Straphanger: NYPD

A man called a young woman by an anti-ethnic slur and threw a can of beans at her inside a Lenox Hill subway station, police said.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A man inside a Lenox Hill subway station served a young woman a hateful offering of slurs with a side of beans, police said.

The man hurled a can of beans at a 22-year-old woman inside the Lexington Avenue-63rd Street station last week, followed by an anti-ethnic remark, officials said.

It all happened on April 4 about 6 p.m., and the incident appears to be an unprovoked act, according to the police narrative.

The woman was not struck by the can of beans and no injuries were reported.

Police said the man then boarded a train and fled to parts unknown.

A video still from footage released by the NYPD shows a man hopping over a turnstile at the Lexington Avenue entrance to the station.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
