Authorities are searching for a man in connection with a rape that occurred on the Upper East Side early Saturday morning.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY – A 29-year-old woman was at her home on the Upper East Side early Saturday morning when a man broke into her apartment and raped her, police said.

The victim was transported to Lenox Hill Hospital in stable condition. The suspect fled the scene and remains at large, according to police.

The shocking incident, which occurred near East 92nd Street and 1st Avenue at about 3:40 a.m., remains under investigation, and there were no updates as of Monday afternoon, a spokesperson told Patch.

The New York Post reported that the victim was asleep when the man broke into her second-floor apartment, a detail an NYPD spokesperson was unable to confirm.
