Moise Safra Center On UES To Open After Years Of Construction
The new Jewish community center is currently accepting memberships.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A new Jewish community center is set to open on the Upper East Side after years of construction, the center announced in an email sent to community members.
The Moise Safra Center on East 82nd Street between Park and Lexington avenues recently acquired the go-ahead from the city Department of Buildings to open its doors, center officials said in an email. The center and synagogue is currently accepting memberships, according to the email.
Members at the Moise Safra center will gain access to a swimming pool, basketball courts, a fitness center outfitted with a yoga and dance studio, a library and arts and culinary programs.

Memberships at the center start at $150 per month plus an added yearly building and security fee for single members, with special rates also available for couples and families. Members over the age of 62 and young professionals living away from home can get discounted rates.
The facility's Ohel Moshe Synagogue will serve both Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews in while "embracing the Syrian Sephardic tradition," according to its website.

The community center first filed plans to construct its new 14-story building in 2012.
