New York City's Best Private K-12 Schools: See 2019 Rankings
Check out Niche.com's rankings for the city's best private schools in 2019 — good luck getting in.

NEW YORK, NY — The new school year may have just started, but it's never too early to start looking forward to next year's application process — especially if you're looking at some of New York City's elite private schools.
The best private schools in the city often have applications (and tuition) that resemble most four-year universities, so if you're trying to get your kid into one you better be prepared. Luckily for New York's most ambitious parents, Niche.com has taken on the task of ranking the best private K-12 schools in the city.
Usual stalwarts such as the Trinity School (No. 1), the Bronx's Horace Mann (No. 3) and the Upper East Side's Dalton School (No. 4) dominate the rankings, but a few schools have leaped into the top 10 since last year's rankings were announced. All-girls school Brearley has jumped seven spots to No. 5 in the rankings and Brooklyn's Packer Collegiate Institute rose from No. 10 to No. 8.

The rankings are "based on rigorous analysis of key statistics and millions of reviews from students and parents," according to Niche. Ranking factors include SAT/ACT scores, the quality of colleges that students consider, student-teacher ratio, private school ratings, and more. Niche both pulls data from entities such as the U.S. Department of Education, and colleges and universities and also relies on users to self-report information such as test scores.
