Pedestrian Killed By Car On UES, Driver Arrested, Police Say
The driver of the car was arrested on Tuesday.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A driver accused of fatally hitting a 78-year-old pedestrian on the Upper East Side in June has been arrested, New York City Police Department officials said.
According to the police, on June 13 at 2:20 p.m., a 78-year-old woman named Virginia Renta was crossing the street at East 93rd Street and Second Avenue when she was struck by a driver in a gray 2023 Nissan Pathfinder, hurling her to the ground and leaving her with fatal injuries.
Renta was rushed to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell, where she was pronounced dead, and the driver remained at the scene, police said.

This Tuesday at 8:13 a.m., a 60-year-old man named Darrell Lopez was arrested on the Upper East Side and charged with one count of failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to use due care.
