Police Searching For Suspect In December UES Bar Glass Smash: NYPD

A bar fight turned bloody when a person smashed a man in the face with a glass mug just before Christmas day, police said.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Police are on the prowl for a suspect who they say smashed a man in the head with a glass mug inside a Yorkville bar on the day before Christmas Eve.

A 46-year-old man got into a dispute with a person inside Reif's Bar at East 92nd Street near Second Avenue at about 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 23, according to police.

Things took a bloody turn when the other person decided to pick up a glass mug and throw it into the face of the 46-year-old, officials said.

The bleeding man had a gash on his head and was rushed by first responders to Metropolitan Hospital in stable condition where he later received staples to close his wound, police said.

Officials released an image of a person they believe is connected to the incidents, but released no description of a suspect.
