UES Pedestrian Dies Weeks After Being Struck By SUV, Police Say
No arrests have been made, officials said.
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — An 88-year-old Upper East Side man has died weeks after being struck by an SUV while crossing the street, New York City Police Department officials said Friday.
The fatal crash happened around 6:23 p.m. on Dec. 2 at the intersection of East 80th Street and First Avenue, police said.
According to investigators, a 2023 Lexus GX was turning northbound onto First Avenue from East 80th Street when it struck the pedestrian, who was walking in the crosswalk.

The man suffered a laceration to the back of his head and was taken by EMS to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition, police said.
On Tuesday, Dec. 16, the victim was pronounced dead, police said.

The victim was identified as Paul Rozenfeld, according to authorities.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad.
