UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Sotheby's CEO Charles Stewart was sued by his Upper East Side neighbors Wednesday who claim his ongoing townhouse renovation has damaged their home, according to court documents.

Stewart's townhouse, at 7 East 81st St., has been under construction for several years, and on Wednesday, Stewart's next-door neighbors, Jill Davis and Edward Conrad, filed a complaint that accuses the Stewarts of doing work “with an utter disregard for the safety" of their home, according to the documents.

The renovations are being done "in a manner repugnant to all reasonable standards of professional conduct and communal civility," the lawsuit says. The lawsuit also says that a construction beam shattered the roof of a glass atrium on the neighbor's property.
