UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A teenage girl jumped onto the subway tracks at an Upper East Side station Monday afternoon and walked all the way to Queens before she was taken into custody, according to police.

The strange incident began around 12:46 p.m., when the 16-year-old girl descended into the tunnel at the Lexington Avenue–63rd Street Station on the F-Q lines.

From there, she walked through the tunnel, under the East River and past, apparently, the Roosevelt Island station. Finally, around 2:30 p.m., police apprehended her at the 21st Street–Queensbridge station in Long Island City — nearly a mile and a half from where she began, according to police.

The incident prompted a large emergency response at the 63rd Street station, and temporarily halted F service between the two boroughs.
