Man Fights Off Car Robbers On UES, Police Say

The potentially armed perpetrators were trying to steal a car from the man, police said.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — New York City Police Department officials are searching for two men who attempted to rob a victim for a car on the Upper East Side on Jan. 3, police said.

According to the NYPD, two men entered an apartment building at 1385 York Ave. at 9:43 a.m.

One of the men simulated a gun in his coat pocket and demanded car keys from a 48-year-old man, police said.

Then, an argument and a physical fight broke out, police said. The perpetrators ran away, heading westbound on 74th Street, police said.

The 48-year-old suffered minor injuries to his hand, but refused medical attention at the scene, police said.

No arrests have been made yet, but an investigation is underway, police said.
