Upper East Side Hotel Rents Suite For $75K Per Night

The Mark Hotel's grand penthouse is the largest hotel room in the country at 10,000 square feet.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — An Upper East Side hotel is now boasting the largest, and most expensive, hotel room in the United States, according to a new report.

The Mark Hotel's grand penthouse — a 10,000-square-foot suite occupying two entire floors of the East 77th Street five-star hotel — is renting at a rate of $75,000 per night, Bloomberg first reported. The room just became available to rent for the first time this year, according to the report.

The Mark Hotel's general manager told Bloomberg that the hotel held off advertising the penthouse as a suite because someone was interested in renting it out as an apartment.

"Before the paint was dry on the renovation, we had someone interested in renting it as an apartment, so it has never been publicized or even on the website," Olivier Lordonnois told Bloomberg. "We then had a family rent it for 16 months, and now it is finally ready for guests."

The massive suite features three king bedrooms, two queen bedrooms, six bathrooms, a library, a dining room with seating for 12, two wet bars and two powder rooms, according to the Mark Hotel's website. The "room" also boasts private terrace access with views of Central Park.

Guests are also treated to the amenities of the Mark Hotel including room service and prepared Central Park picnics from world-renowned restaurant Jean-Georges, access to a 1,400-square-foot fitness center, Frédéric Fekkai hair salon appointments, and chauffeured pedicab rides to Manhattan's luxury retail destinations. A stay in the penthouse also comes with special treatment and a staff that will cater to every request, Lordonnois told Bloomberg.

"Obviously, the accommodation is unbelievable, but after that, the little details have to be in line with the rest.," Lordonnois told Bloomberg. "That is our job: to find those little things."
