Walk-In Clinic Opens Inside UES Pharmacy

The clinic will be staffed by nurse practitioners who are able to write prescriptions for common illnesses.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A new walk-in clinic where people can be treated and get prescriptions for common illnesses and minor wounds has opened its doors inside an Upper East Side pharmacy.

MinuteClinic is now operating a location staffed by licensed nurse practitioners inside a CVS on East 86th Street between First and Second avenues, the company announced. The staff specializes in family medicine and are able to write prescriptions and administer vaccinations, according to a press release.

"Our new clinic will help increase access to high-quality, affordable health care for people who live, work and attend school in Manhattan," Sharon Vitti, the executive director of MinuteClinic, said in a statement. "We’re excited to bring our growing suite of health care services to the Upper East Side community and we look forward to being a health care resource for residents, when and where they need us."

In addition to treatment, the staff at MinuteClinic can also provide wellness and prevention services such as screening for diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol and providing contraceptive care and smoking cessation services.

MinuteClinic patients will also receive educational materials at the end of their visits. The staff at the clinic can also send records from visits to a patient's primary care doctor. The clinic will accept most health insurance policies and lists its pricing on its website.

The Upper East Side clinic will be open from 8:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on Sunday.
