Woman Assaulted On UES Subway: Police

A 43-year-old woman was assaulted by a man on the subway early Saturday morning, authorities said.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY – A 43-year-old woman was traveling southbound on an Upper East Side 6 train at about 7:20 a.m. on Saturday morning when a man whom she did not know threw a cell phone charger at her in what she says was an unprovoked attack, according to police.

Although the charger did not hit her, an argument began, and the man eventually punched the woman in the face with a closed fist, police said.

The man exited the subway at the 77th Street 6 train station, fleeing to parts unknown, according to authorities.

The woman was treated for bruising and swelling at the scene by emergency responders, officials said.

Police described the man as about 5’6 and 170 pounds. No description of his complexion or clothing was available at this time.

An investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
