Women Snatch 77-Year-Old's Purse On Upper East Side: Police

The victim was waiting for a taxi when she was robbed, police said.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify two women who were smiling wide after stealing a purse from a 77-year-old woman on the Upper East Side, police said.

The victim was waiting for a taxi at the corner of 1st Avenue and East 77th Street on Wednesday morning when the two women approached her, police said. The women grabbed the victim's pocketbook and ran off, police said.

The pocketbook contained a cellphone, credit cards and $465 in cash, police said. The 77-year-old victim was not physically injured during the theft, police said.

Police described the suspects as two women in their twenties. Security camera footage of the women fleeing the scene of the robbery was released by NYPD (seen above).
