Duo Sought In UWS Gunpoint Robbery Near Playground: NYPD

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY - A 41-year-old victim surrendered her purse and cell phone to a pair of thieves during a gunpoint robbery in the Upper West Side last month, authorities said.

The victim was walking in front of 217 West 63rd Street near the Samuel N. Bennerson II Playground about 10 p.m. when a man and woman approached her from behind, police said.

The man pulled a silver firearm on the victim while the female assailant swiped the victim’s pocketbook from her shoulder and cell phone from her hand, police said.

The pair fled the area shortly thereafter; the victim did not report any physical injuries as a result of the incident, police said.

The estimated value of the items removed is about $800.

The suspects are described as a man and woman between 25 to 30 years old.

The man was last seen wearing a red hoodie, blue ripped jeans, black boots with light brown skiing hat; the woman was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black leggings and red winter boots, police said.
