Newly Opened Upper West Side Lounge Offering $830 Caviar
With the same amount of money, you could buy 237 cheese pizza slices from Ray's on the Upper West Side.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — $830. That's how much it would cost you to buy the most expensive caviar option from the newly opened Wallace Lounge on the Upper West Side.
It is the price of 250 grams of the Classic Baika menu option, served with egg whites, egg yolks, shallots, chives, capers, creme fraiche and mini blinis, at the lounge on 76th Street between Broadway and West End.
To put that number in perspective, here's what else $830 could get you.

- 113 gallons of milk from the Whole Foods at 808 Columbus Ave.
- 92 everything bagels from Zabar's at 2245 Broadway
- 281 hot dogs from Gray's Papaya at 2090 Broadway
- 44 servings of Penne Al Pomodoro at Gennaro at 665 Amsterdam Ave.
- One-month rent at three apartments in Jersey City (for a non-local option)
Of course, caviar and milk aren't exactly in the same realm of availability and value.
Caviar comes from farmed sturgeon, which are highly endangered, and when combined with the careful hand picking process needed to collect the eggs, an exorbitant price is created.
