Pair Of Upper West Side Businesses Burglarized For Thousands: Police

Police are looking for a man who recently broke into a salon and bar on the Upper West Side.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A man recently broke into two Upper West Side businesses and snatched thousands of dollars from cash registers, police said on Tuesday.

NYPD are looking for a man who burglarized a salon and bar on Amsterdam Avenue within hours of one another earlier this month.

Around 5 p.m. on Jan. 15, a man got into a salon at 528 Amsterdam Ave., near West 85th Street, and grabbed $2,000 from a cash register, before fleeing, police said.

There were no injuries.

The Chris Dasig Salon and the Studio 80 Salon are both located at the address, but it is unclear which one was burglarized.

The second burglary took place hours later ,a few blocks farther downtown, at the St. James Gate bar near the corner of 81st Street and Amsterdam, police said.

Around 3:50 a.m. on Jan. 16, a man entered the bar by forcing open a side window, before taking $600 from the cash register, police said.

There were no injuries.

NYPD released a photo of the suspect for the first time on Tuesday evening.
