Straphanger Stabbed In Face With Screwdriver At Columbus Circle: NYPD
The 61-year-old rider was rushed to the hospital for face and head injuries, police said. The attacker remains at large.

COLUMBUS CIRCLE, NY - A 61-year-old subway rider was stabbed in the face and head with a screwdriver on the Upper West Side Thursday evening, authorities said.
The victim was riding a southbound 1 train approaching the 59 Street and Columbus Circle station about 9:40 p.m. when an unknown man struck him in the face and head with the tool without warning, police said.
The attacker fled the train when it arrived at the 59 Street and Columbus Circle station and escaped up the station’s stairs, police said.

Medics rushed the victim to Mount Sinai West where he was treated for lacerations to his mouth and to the left side of his head, police said. He was listed in stable condition.
The screwdriver was recovered at the scene. No arrests have been announced as of Friday morning.

The attacker is described as a man standing about five feet nine inches tall. He was last seen wearing black face mask and a black and red hooded sweatshirt.
