Upper West Side North Face Store Closing After 23 Years, Employee Says
The retailer's shuttering will leave a large vacancy at the corner of West 73rd Street and Broadway. Its last day is Monday.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The North Face store on the corner of West 73rd Street and Broadway on the Upper West Side is closing permanently, an employee told Patch.
The shuttering comes after the business chose not to renew its lease, the employee said and the WestSideRag first reported.
The retail chain known for its outdoor apparel and fitness gear will have its last day on Monday, the employee added.

The Upper West Side North Face store opened in 2003, and was actually the company's first New York City location.
It's a major neighborhood shuttering as the two-story store will now sit empty for at least the immediate future.

The Upper West Side outpost has been swathed by a sidewalk shed and scaffolding since at least 2019.
The sidewalk shed currently stretches down the entire West 73rd and Broadway block that includes Sephora, the Ansonia Hotel, and a bank.

The street also has a fruit stand and is one block from the 72nd Street 1, 2, and 3 station.
Unlike many other retails, the North Face has actually found increasing success in recent years.
For the 2022 fiscal year, revenue increased by 33 percent, according to a Yahoo Sports article.
