UWS Gunpoint Robbery Suspect At Large, NYPD Says

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY - An individual who revealed a gun before robbing an Upper West Side pedestrian of $500 in cash on Friday remains at large, authorities said.

The 41-year-old male victim was approached by the assailant Friday about 7:34 p.m. near Amsterdam Avenue and West 97 Street, police said.

After showing the firearm, the assailant took jewelry, wallet and a debit card, as well as the $500, from the victim before fleeing the area, police said.

There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.

As of Monday, New York City has 13,452 reported robbery incidents so far in 2023, according to city data. That's down about 5.1 percent from the same time the previous year.

In the 24 precincts where the robbery took place, police have seen 105 incidents so far in 2023. That’s compared to 134 incidents reported this time last year.
