Oneida County appoints new Emergency Services, STOP-DWI heads (cnyhomepage.com) — Oneida County has tapped longtime Utica firefighter Francis Manfredo as its new Director of Emergency Services and Daniel DeLuke as the county’s new STOP-DWI Coordinator, starting January 5. Manfredo’s decades with the Utica Fire Department and regional law enforcement, along with DeLuke’s emergency response and outreach experience, will shape how the county handles emergencies and combats impaired driving.

First-of-its-kind pro curling league to hit Adirondack Bank Center (cnyhomepage.com) — Utica’s Adirondack Bank Center will host the only U.S. stop of the new Rock League professional curling tour during its 2027 season, bringing world-class curlers to town. The arena will welcome the Frontier Curling Club, featuring Olympic medalist John Shuster and several 2026 Olympians. Tickets for the Utica events are expected to go on sale in January.
   

4. Congresswoman Elise Stefanik Suspends New York Governor Campaign (wktv.com) — From Utica, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik says she’s suspending her campaign for New York governor and will also not run for re-election to Congress. She cites family priorities and the prospect of a drawn-out GOP primary, thanking supporters across the state as she looks toward a new chapter.
