2 Fires Break Out In Nassau, Drawing Area Firefighters Monday: Police
The first started in an office building in Elmont, drawing 100 firefighters, News 12 reported. The second was at a Wantagh home.
NASSAU COUNTY, NY — Two fires broke out Monday night, including one at an office building in Elmont that drew around 100 firefighters, News 12 reported.
Officers who responded to the Linden Boulevard fire at around 7 p.m. saw heavy smoke coming from the building, and were told that all of the office workers had escaped, Nassau police said.
Firefighters told News 12 that there were around seven to 10 office workers inside the building at the time of the fire and that it took about an hour to get it under control.

Altogether eight agencies, including the Elmont, Malverne, Valley Stream, Franklin Square, and South Hempstead fire departments, police Arson/Bomb Squad, Nassau County Fire Marshals,
and the Town of Hempstead Building Department responded to the scene, according to police.

Two office workers were evaluated by a Nassau police medic and refused further medical treatment at the scene, police said, adding that three firemen were also treated
for smoke inhalation.
One fireman had a minor laceration to his hand and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, police said.
The investigation into the fire, which does not appear to be suspicious at this time, is ongoing, according to police.
A second fire broke out around five hours later just before midnight at a Wantagh home, Nassau police said.
Officers responded to a 911 call for a smell of smoke emanating from the attic at the Princeton Drive home, and it was ordered evacuated while the Wantagh Fire Department extinguished the flames, according to police.
No injuries were reported in the fire, which was contained to the attic, police said.
The Arson and Bomb Squad and the Nassau County Fire Marshal's office responded to the scene, according to police.
The investigation into that fire is also ongoing, police said.
