Confectionery Construction Efforts Come To Mandalay Bay Elementary

Students at Mandalay Bay went home for winter break with an extra decoration after the Dec. 22 exercise.

WANTAGH, NY. — Dec. 22 was the latest chapter in a longstanding tradition at Mandalay Bay Elementary School, as kindergartners were joined by special guests including parents and grandparents to make gingerbread houses out of milk cartons.

The houses were coated in frosting before being decorated with pretzels, marshmallows, gum drops and other candies. Sweets were provided by parents from the district, with teachers sorting and distributing the sugary construction equipment. District officials said that some of the equipment was lost to taste-testing during construction, before the students went home with their gingerbread houses.
