2 Kayakers Rescued In Wantagh
The men realized the winds and currents were too much for them to handle and called 911 for help.
WANTAGH, NY — Two men were rescued during a kayaking emergency in Wantagh on Tuesday, Nassau police said.
Two men launched their kayaks out of Jones Beach Field 10 and went for a ride sometime before 6:40 p.m., police said. The men decided to turn around in the Great Island Channel near the 2nd Wantagh Bridge. They quickly realized the winds and currents were too much for them to handle, according to police. They notified 911, and Nassau County Marine 6 found the kayakers.
The men, along with their kayaks, were taken aboard the vessel and transported back to Jones Beach Field 10.

No injuries were reported, police said.
"The public is reminded to consider weather and water conditions prior to operating small watercrafts or personal watercrafts," the department stated.
