3 Local Football Stars Selected to Empire Challenge

Seaford's Greg Kolodinsky, Wantagh's Ryan Sliwak and MacArthur's Tommy Joyce to suit up for Long Island team in annual all-star game at Hofstra.

Three local football stars have been selected to suit up for the 16th annual United Healthcare Empire Challenge All-Star Game at Hofstra University’s Shuart Stadium.

The annual high school all star game will pit Long Island against New York City on June 21 for metropolitan area bragging rights. The local players selected for the Long Island all-star team include Seaford offensive guard Greg Kolodinsky, Wantagh wide receiver Ryan Sliwak and MacArthur running back Tommy Joyce, a Wantagh resident.

Kolodinsky helped anchor a Seaford offensive line that the Nassau County Conference IV title last year over Roosevelt.

Sliwak was a standout wide receiver for Wantagh and helped lead the Warriors to the Nassau County Conference II semifinals during his senior season.

The Sacred Heart University-bound Joyce the prestigious Tom Thorp Memorial Award as Nassau County’s top player during his senior season for the Generals after rushing for 372 yards on 47 carries with seven touchdowns.
