The Wantagh Summer Recreation Program's registration is still in effect. The five-week program,which takes place at Wantagh Elementary School, will start on June 24 and end on July 26, and run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The program provides children currently in kindergarten through  fifth grade with a fun,enriching program of well-supervised activities including arts and crafts;special events; and outdoor sports such as soccer, kickball, volleyball and relay races.
Based on availability, the following off-site activities are tentatively scheduled: Cool Crafts, Wantagh Library, Wantagh Firehouse, and an ice cream parlor. Children in grades 3,4 and 5 will be swimming at Newbridge Road Pool while campers in grades K, 1 and 2 will be cooling off in the sprinklers at school.

Special in-house activities in previous years have included puppetry and music.
Small groups of campers are supervised at all times by certified teachers, and counselors enrolled in high school or college. Transportation to and from the program must be provided by the parent.

Payment is $375 per child.
