Canon Employees Walk In Making Strides Event To Support Breast Cancer Research

WANTAGH, NY — Canon U.S.A, Inc. employees walked in the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Jones Beach State Park this past Sunday.

Canon has sponsored the event for 27 years. They had 88 employees and their family members join in the walk with Team Canon.

President and CEO of Canon U.S.A, Inc. Sammy Kobayashi said that Canon's annual participation in the event showcases the company's philosophy of Kyosei, which translates to working and living together for the common good.

“Supporting the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Walk is a meaningful way for Canon to stand with those affected by cancer and contribute to a cause that touches so many lives,” Kobayashi said. “This event is about showing solidarity, fostering hope, and advancing lifesaving research and programs that support patients and their families. At Canon, we believe in the power of community, and by joining the Making Strides Walk, we honor those who have battled cancer, celebrate survivors, and stand together to help create a future free from this devastating disease.”

Canon employees joined walks across the nation, including Chicago, New Jersey, and Virginia.

During the walk, Canon handed out coloring books as a gesture inspired by what cancer centers do to lift their patients' spirits during treatment, a release said.

Canon supported ACS in the months leading up to the event, contributing to ACS' Daffodil Days campaign, which helped raise funds for ACS programs, as well as an ACS merchandise fundraiser and "Pink Wednesdays" in the office, where employees work pink to raise awareness and show support for those impacted by breast cancer, a release said.
