HEMPSTEAD, NY — Town of Hempstead Supervisor Don Clavin will not reelection for a fourth term.

“I want to thank the residents of the Town of Hempstead for the support they have shown me during my tenure as Supervisor and also while I worked as Receiver of Taxes. I hope to serve the public in a different capacity as I intend to run for a seat on the bench of the Nassau County Court," Clavin said in a statement.

Clavin was first elected supervisor in 2019. He won reelection in 2021 and his third term in 2023. As stated on his bio, Clavin "put taxpayers first, which was his commitment from Day 1 in office in January of 2020, as he followed through on his promise to slash the Supervisor’s payroll in half by nearly $1 million."
