Man Arrested After Gun, Ammunition Found in Car in Wantagh
Brooklyn man charged after witnesses saw him and another man covering a license plate near Railroad Avenue and Beech Street.

A phone call regarding two suspicious men observed covering a license plate Friday morning in Wantagh led to a Brooklyn man being arrested by police and charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
According to detectives, Kunta Abdur-Rahman, 22, and Thomas Campbell, 22, both of Brooklyn, were observed in the vicinity of Railroad Avenue and Beech Street covering the New Jersey license plate to a black 2010 Chevrolet Impala. Police said the vehicle was being operated by Abdur-Rahman with a Georgia state license plate and the two men covered it using double sided tape.
Police received a call regarding the suspicious pair and vehicle and they were quickly located and arrested by responding officers. The officers also discovered a change of clothes, duct tape, gloves, an unlicensed firearm in the vehicle and a quantity of ammunition.

Abdur-Rahman is being charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday. Campbell is not being charged at this time, police said.
