Friday Morning Shed Fire Labeled 'Not Suspicious,' Authorities Investigating: Fire Marshal
The fire broke out just after 10 a.m. Friday, fire authorities say.
WANTAGH, NY. — The Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office is investigating a shed fire in Wantagh Friday after residents called 911 just after 10 a.m.
The Fire Marshal said the fire broke out at a shed on Duck Pond Drive in Wantagh, with Chief Mathewson of the Wantagh Fire Department leading a response effort including over 40 firefighters. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported, the fire marshal said, and the fire was under control within 20 minutes.
The fire marshal’s office said the fire is not considered suspicious right now, described instead as “accidental electrical.” All the same, fire marshal investigators and arson bomb squad detectives are investigating. Finally, the fire marshal said there was serious damage to the shed but no damage to the house on the same property.
