Jones Beach Fourth of July Fireworks Show Canceled

The largest fireworks show on Long Island won't take place this year, officials announced Saturday.

The annual Fourth of July Jones Beach fireworks show won't take place this summer. Blame coronavirus.

"Due to social distancing measures in place and the large crowds the event typically attracts, it is not feasible to hold the Fourth of July fireworks display this summer," a message on the Jones Beach State Park website reads. "We look forward to resuming the event next year."

To encourage social distancing and help stop the spread of virus, many parks have reduced parking by 50 percent, leading to popular parks reaching capacity by noon.
