Kyle Quinn Leads Wantagh to State Wrestling Title
Seaford's James O'Hagan also shines at New York State wrestling championships with a third place finish.
Wantagh High School junior Kyle Quinn claimed a New York State wrestling title in the 106-pound weight class this past weekend and also helped lead the Warriors to a team championship.Â
Quinn clinched the individual state title with a 7-1 decision against Alex Tanzman of Westhampton Beach. He also captured a Nassau County crown on Feb. 12.Â
Wantagh took the team title in the New York State wrestling championships in Albany with 83.5 points, which was 18.5 ahead of second-place Shenendehowa. Other Warrior wrestlers who placed high in their wight classes included James Corbett (second at 182), Dan McDevitt (third at 170) and Vinny Turano (fourth at 132).Â

Seaford's James O'Hagan also shined in Albany by finishing third in the 285-pound weight class. It was the highest placing in Seaford wrestling history at the state tournament.Â
After O'Hagan won his quarterfinal match against the top-seeded 285-pound wrestler, he dedicated his victory in a video interview posted by newyorkwrestlingnews.com to Joseph Tutaj, a Seaford High School sophomore who died suddenly last week while on a class band trip in Southern California.
