Little League Loses Longtime Field; Town Invests In Park Upgrades

Construction is being done on updating the ball fields at Seamans Neck Park.

SEAFORD, NY — Some bittersweetness for the Seaford Little League is dugouts were demolished.

As the group posted with a photo, "Sad to see the dugouts, I and many of us grew up in, come down."

But, the apprehension should be short-lived as the Town of Hempstead is planning for youth baseball next year.

One of the upgrades is at the park's Field 2, where they are changing from dirt to artificial turf. Field 3, a multi-purpose turf field for baseball, football and lacrosse is being replaced due to wear and tear.

The fields will also get new bleachers, backstops and fencing.

"This should be completed by spring," Carini said. "This was done completely with town funds and is part of our commitment to upgrade the town parks."

Looking forward to starting the new season at the upgraded park facilities, Seaford Little League added on its Facebook post: "Where youth baseball and softball players will make their marks and memories."
