Local Schools Closed Tuesday Due to Hurricane Sandy
Forecast of storm causes Wantagh, Seaford and Levittown districts to announce closing of schools for a second straight day.

District officials in Wantagh, Seaford and Levittown announced early Monday that schools will be closed Tuesday because of Hurricane Sandy.Â
Area schools were also closed Monday due to a forecast of Hurricane Sandy causing inclement weather on Long Island. All after-school activities are also cancelled Monday and Tuesday.Â
"Predictions for a worsening of this storm continue and I will keep you informed with a message tomorrow should any additional adjustments to the school schedule be required for Wednesday," said Wantagh Acting Superintendent Maureen Goldberg in a message posted on the  district's website. "Please take all recommended precautions from emergency services as this storm continues."
