Merrick Car Dealership Co-Worker Steals Money From Woman's Purse: PD

Jaquore Blaylock, who is also responsible for a handful of crimes in December, injured officers during his arrest, police say.

WANTAGH, NY — A Freeport man was arrested after he stole cash from a car dealership colleague in Wantagh, police said.

Jaquore Blaylock, 21, who is an employee of Merrick Jeep Chrysler Dodge on Sunrise Highway, removed money on Monday afternoon from a co-worker's purse that was in her desk, police said.

As officers attempted to place him in custody, he fled on foot, but was apprehended near the intersection of Oakland Avenue and Locust Avenue, police said.

While placing Blaylock under arrest, two officers were injured as he became violent and combative, authorities said.

The officers were treated at an area hospital. He was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, petty larceny and resisting arrest, police said.

An investigation by Nassau police also revealed that Blaylock was responsible for the following incidents; according to police, was arrested charged with:

  • Wantagh, Dec. 6: Third-degree and fourth-degree grand larceny
  • Roosevelt, Dec. 16: Reckless driving, endangering the welfare of a child
  • Freeport, Dec. 17: Third-degree criminal possession of stolen property

He was scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday.
