Nassau Judge Tapped To Lead Eastern District Of NY

HEMPSTEAD, NY — A Long Island judge has been selected by President-elect Trump as the new U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District.

Joseph Nocella Jr. is the pick to succeed Breon Peace. Nocella was appointed as a Nassau County District Judge in 2022.

"Thank you President Trump for making this important appointment. Joe Nocella is a seasoned prosecutor with great integrity and will be a valuable asset in fighting crime and protecting the homeland," Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman said in a statement.

Nocella also worked as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Eastern District in the early 1990s, Newsday said. He worked in town government, as the attorney for Oyster Bay and Hempstead, Newsday said.
