Nassau Legislative Special Election: Giangregorio Defeats Mills
Michael Giangregorio heads to Mineola as a veteran of the financial industry.

MERRICK, NY — In a special election, voters went to the polls on Tuesday to fill the Nassau Legislative seat in the 19th District.
Republican Michael Giangregorio, of Merrick, declared himself the winner against Democrat Robert Miles. Giangregorio's campaign said the Republican won by 18% with 3,750 votes. The County Board of Elections did not provide updated results.
"I am honored to have been selected by the voters in the 19th Legislative District to represent them in Mineola," Giangregorio said. "I am committed to delivering on the promises of tax relief, safe communities, and protecting our suburban quality-of-life."

Miles, who spent the past year as the Minority Caucus Counsel in Mineola, conceded the race.
"I want to congratulate Michael on a great race and I wish him luck. I want to thank the Democratic party and all of our volunteers for their work and support. And, I will continue to work to bring important reforms to Nassau County government."

The election was called for after Steve Rhoads defeated John Brooks for the state senate in November.
