Nassau PBA Stands With D'Esposito Amid Ethics Allegations

The congressman allegedly hired​ an ex-girlfriend and his fiancee's daughter for the government's payroll.

MINEOLA, NY — Amid allegations of improper hiring practices, Rep. Anthony D'Esposito (R-Island Park) has received support from the Nassau County's top police union.

"The Nassau County Police Benevolent Association reaffirms its full support of Congressman Anthony D’Esposito. As a former NYPD officer, Congressman D’Esposito has demonstrated unwavering dedication to law enforcement and the safety of our communities. His leadership and service continue to reflect the principles of accountability, fairness, and justice that he has upheld throughout his career." said Tommy Shevlin, President of the Nassau County PBA.

The New York Times reported this week that the first term congressman allegedly hired an ex-girlfriend and his fiancee's daughter.

"My personal life has never interfered with my ability to deliver results for New York’s 4th district, and I have upheld the highest ethical standards of personal conduct," D'Esposito said in a statement.

Laura Gillen, who is running against D'Esposito for the 4th District, has a new TV advertisement airing starting on Thursday about the incumbent.

"The public needs to know about the shocking and serious allegations in official records that reflect Anthony D’Esposito’s pattern of corruption and poor judgment," she said. "He has violated the public trust, behaving irresponsibly and abusing his power."
