New Owner Eyed for Vacant Wantagh Building

Property on Wantagh Avenue that formerly housed a Chase Bank branch is on market.

A vacant Wantagh building that was formerly a Chase Bank branch is on the market.

Amos Brotter, a broker with Great Neck-based Douglas Payton & Co., which is handling the sale of the property on 1260 Wantagh Ave., said there has been plenty of interest in the short time the building has been marketed for a variety of uses including medical, retail and office space. Brotter said the building was initially acquired by American Broadcast Employee Federal Credit Union with intent to open a corporate office in the space, but that the financial institution has decided to sell before opening due to a lengthy approval process required by the Town of Hempstead.

“We’ve had a lot of interest but the credit union is looking for the right proposal,” Brotter said. “It’s a beautiful property.”
