Russack Chosen as Wantagh School Board President

Board of Education hold reorganization meeting and choose new president and vice president.

The Wantagh Board of Education unanimously elected William Russack as its new president at Tuesday night’s reorganization meeting.

Russack, who had previously been serving as vice president, replaces Jean Quinn, who had been tapped as president at least year’s reorganization meeting. Russack is entering his sixth year on the Wantagh Board of Education.

Replacing Russack as Wantagh Board of Education vice president is Robert Leuchtmann, who is entering his third year as a trustee. Leuchtmann was also elected in a unanimous 5-0 vote.

"I look forward to providing a great educational opportunity for our students and i look forward to continuing on the efforts of previous boards," said Russack after the meeting.

The July 5 school board meeting at also featured the swearing in of newly elected trustee Michael Soethout, who fills the seat previously held by Ann-Marie Sturniolo after she decided not to seek re-election. Trustee Michael Cucci, who was to his fifth term on May 17, was also sworn in.

The next Wantagh Board of Education meeting is scheduled for Aug. 25 at 8 p.m. in the Wantagh High School Auditorium.
