Shed Fire Causes Damage to 3 North Wantagh Homes
Blaze in backyard on Sand Hill Road causes some in neighborhood to lose power Monday morning.
A large shed burst into flames in a North Wantagh neighborhood Monday morning causing fire damage to three adjacent houses and some nearby homes to lose power.
Wantagh Fire Chief William Allen said the shed caught ablaze in the backyard of a home on Sand Hill Road, which spread to two homes behind the house on Wishbone Lane. Allen said the homes suffered exterior damage and the shed was destroyed. There were no injuries.
The fire caused homes in the neighborhood surrounding the damaged property to lose power, Allen said. The Long Island Power Authority arrived on the scene and Allen said he expected power to be restored soon.
A Nassau County Fire Marshal responded to investigate the fire, which Allen said is not deemed suspicious.
