Sound Off: What Would You Cut from Seaford School Budget?
School officials say they have to make up a $1.5 million budget shortfall for next year. Where would you start cutting?

School officials in Seaford are going to be announcing some very tough decisions this week.
The school district is facing a $1.5 million budget shortfall and has begun the process of looking where to cut for next year's spending plan. Administrators are attributing the district’s challenging fiscal situation to required state-mandated expenses and a lack of maneuverability due to a new tax cap law.
Possible reductions that have been discussed during recent budget discussions at school board meetings include going to an eight-period day at the high school or middle school, cutting athletics at Seaford Middle School and having less school-sponsored field trips.
