Wantagh Fire District Commissioner William Field Runs Unopposed
William Field IV sought re-election for his sixth term Tuesday.

WANTAGH, NY — Polls closed Tuesday afternoon in Wantagh and Seaford in the Wantagh Fire District's commissioner election, where William Field IV sought re-election for his sixth term as commissioner. He ran unopposed.
The district includes all of Wantagh, as well as parts of Levittown, Seaford and East Meadow. Commissioners manage and oversee the district's $7.4 million budget.
Field, a 47-year active member of the department, served seven years as lieutenant and captain before being elected to chief, where he served seven years. In Field's most recent term, a new aerial ladder was bought and a fire station on Merrick Road was renovated. Two new ambulances were also bought with automatic CPR equipment and automated patient stretchers.
