WANTAGH, NY — Mulcahy's Pub in Wantagh will host a fundraiser for a young girl with autism.

The family of Gia Byrne is trying to get her help with a stem cell procedure and a therapy bed.

During the Oct. 10 fundraiser, those in attendance can donate a basket for the live auction.

The John Theissen Children's Foundation, a nonprofit organization based in Wantagh, is organizing the event.

The goal of the fundraiser is to raise enough funds to cover the expenses for a breakthrough stem cell treatment for autism.

The family also hopes to get 11-year-old Gia a cubby bed, which would "help her to be calm and to sleep much better," Theissen said.

"An Evening for Gia" is $65 per person and includes an open bar and buffet. It's $30 per person for 20 years old and younger. Admission is free for children 5 and younger.
