1. Watertown gas prices drop three cents from last week (informnny.com) — Drivers in the City of Watertown are seeing a little relief, with average gas prices dipping three cents to $3.13 per gallon based on stations in and around the city. The drop matches Elmira for the steepest decline in New York, while state and national gas and diesel averages are also sliding, and EV charging rates remain steady.
   

2. Jefferson & Alfred State team up to boost education access (informnny.com) — Jefferson Community College in Watertown has signed a new agreement that lets qualifying computer-related graduates transfer to Alfred State as full juniors with major scholarships starting in spring 2025. Students in several associate programs can move into comparable Alfred State bachelor’s degrees and finish in about five more semesters, creating a clearer, more affordable path to a four-year degree for local residents.
   

3. Warming centers working together in Watertown to face demand (wwnytv.com) — Watertown’s three warming centers are already hitting capacity on most nights this December, as cold and snow drive more people indoors. The Salvation Army, Emmanuel Congregational Church, and New Life Christian Church are coordinating beds and food, but they’re stretched thin and counting on community donations and volunteers to keep people safe and warm.
   

4. Watertown's fire chief: hydrants at fire scene weren't an issue (wwnytv.com) — Watertown’s fire chief says city hydrants were not to blame for a recent Scio Street house fire, clarifying that crews chose an Arsenal Street hydrant for its stronger water main. He notes some neighborhood hydrants sit on smaller mains, which can’t always supply the heavy flow needed for large fires, a common limitation in many cities.
   

5. State police ask for help locating alleged hit-and-run pickup truck (informnny.com) — State Police based in Watertown are asking North Country residents to help identify a pickup truck that allegedly hit a telephone pole and fled at Lakeview Drive and Brown Street in Dexter on October 9. Anyone who saw the crash or recognizes the truck towing a pontoon trailer is urged to call New York State Police at (315) 366-6000 and reference case NY2500992924.
