VILLAGE, NY — In the latest rendition of the super-rich making staggering purchases in the Village area — Steve Ells, the founder of Chipotle, just bought a $29.5 million townhouse in the neighborhood amid a construction mishap at his primary residence down the street, reports the New York Post.

The nearly $30 million townhouse at 27 East 11th Street won't be Ells main residence, as he's expected to stay in it only until his nearby mega-mansion is ready, writes the New York Post.

The New York Post reports that recent heavy rain has revealed flaws with the bricks that could add years to the construction.

"This is just his temporary house. It's crazy," a source familiar with the deal told the New York Post. "On this level, there is so much money, it's like play money for these people."

The 27 East 11th Street townhouse has five stories, 18 rooms, seven bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, four fireplaces, an elevator, a roof garden, and more, according to a listing.
