John Lennon And Yoko Ono's Former West Village Home Sells For $9M
Most Beatles fans know about the Dakota and the St. Regis Hotel, but John Lennon and Yoko Ono also lived for a short time on Bank Street.
WEST VILLAGE, NY — A West Village building where John Lennon and Yoko Ono used to live quietly sold earlier this year for nearly nine million, as first reported by Dirt.
While many people know the couple's other famous New York City digs such as The Dakota and to a lesser extent the St. Regis Hotel — where Lennon released his album "Imagine" — fewer people know about 105 Bank St.
The four-story townhouse sold earlier this year for $8.8 million, but decades earlier, Lennon and Ono lived there from 1971 to 1973, reported Dirt.

The building was constructed in 1905 and has three stories. Lennon and Ono rented the top floor of the walk-up building in 1971.
According to multiple reports, the couple chose the discreet building to better be able to explore the city, something they couldn't do leaving the famous doors of the St. Regis Hotel.

During the period, Lennon was actually in danger of deportation and the FBI ordered agents to locate the musician.
Comically enough, the FBI listed his address as the St. Regis Hotel at 150 Bank St., and was confused when they couldn't find the hotel on the small West Village block, according to the Dayton In Manhattan Blog.
Lennon and Ono's time at the West Village apartment did not end on a positive note, though, as the apartment was robbed by a former tenant in 1973. The different stolen items included a color TV, an address book, and multiple pieces of art, reported Dirt.
The burglary ended up prompting the couple to move to the more secure Dakota building on the Upper West Side, the report adds.
So next time you walk past the unassuming building on Bank Street, imagine one of the world's greatest ever artists walking the same path.
