The home has six bedrooms, six and a half bathrooms, a rooftop garden, 10 to 14-foot ceilings throughout, and a 2,000 square-foot plus cellar space.

"This unique townhouse began life as a horse stable evolving over the past century and a half into an incredible residential oasis," reads a listing from Corcoran. "Graced over the years with society tenants and parties whose secrets will live within its walls, it has, for the past forty years, been home to loving owners who treasured it. Dubbed the 'Castle in the Village' it presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create a masterpiece!"

The seller of the townhouse is architect Carl Pucci, who bought the home in 1982 for an undisclosed price, according to the NY Post.

The home was originally bought in the 1920s by the nearby St John's in the Village Episcopal Church, which is around the corner on Waverly Place.

The church was planning on creating an artist's colony with a communal garden and bought multiple townhouses in the area, but the plan eventually was given up when the stock market crashed in October 1929, reported the NY Post.
